The following are excerpts taken from blogs, forums, and twitter accounts of real Alzheimer's patients and caregivers. Nothing has been edited or changed in any way. These are the real stories of people struggling with exactly what we want to help them with.
From an Alzheimer's message board: My husband was diagnosed at the age of 52 with Ahlzeimers...He is now 54 and is in the moderate/severe stage....he was diagnosed when he could not remember how to do the work he had done for 25 years...He lost his job and then went through 10 jobs in 8 months...It was then we knew something was terribly wrong but never had a clue it would be Ahlzeimers...We have a daughter 15 and a daughter 16...I have to work full time and we have no family to help. I have looked into support groups and they are all designed toward elderly and all tell me there is very little out there for people in my situation. We lost our house and have been through a horrible 2 years. This is very difficult on our entire family. We live in the metro Atlanta area and it is hard to believe there is nothing out there. My husband has not been able to drive for about a year and he is having great difficulty with our daughters learning to drive. There must be someone out there who has a similar situtation. There are services for those who have money but we live on my hisband's disability and my income and there is no room for additional payments.

We know that younger-onset Alzheimer's can strike a victim in their 40s, and even in their 30s in very rare cases.
This provides a completely different set of struggles and difficulties for the family involved. For example...
Dad, 44, works full time. Mom is a stay-at-home-mom. Daughter is a sophomore in college, where the parents are helping with some of the costs. Son is a high school junior, working part time while prepping for college. He'll also need some financial help from mom and dad.
